The practical guide was published in January 2022 and provides guidance in the area of transboundary waste shipments. This area of law is – due to numerous cross-references and interdependencies between the different legal provisions – very demanding. This includes the notification procedure with different case structures depending on the disposal procedure applied, export, transit and import countries involved and the waste to be shipped.
Practical guide on transboundary waste shipments
This 530-page practical guide provides authorities, waste generators and waste management companies with tips and advice on how to find their way through the extensive web of national and international regulations. Current relevant legal provisions and working aids are listed. It is preceded by an explanatory text on waste law, waste classification and the European Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR), the Basel Convention and the OECD Decision.
The book is based both on the author’s experience gained as the head of the Basel Convention Focal Point at the Federal Environment Agency in Germany for many years and on seminar materials he has prepared as a speaker on transboundary waste shipments for various seminar organisers.
